St Etheldreda’s

St Etheldreda’s church is nestled in Ely Place, London. Somewhat Tardis like, you could almost miss it from the outside. As you walk through the stone floored entrance, into the oldest catholic church in England, you are greeted by a wonderful vaulted church. Bathed in a kaleidoscope of light from its huge stained glass window, and looked down upon by it’s ancient statues of monarchs. It has a unique feel and tranquility about it. This is magnified by the skilled voices of the choir, high up on a mezzanine floor.

I have photographed weddings at London’s St Etheldreda’s a number of times. Sometimes with the reception below in the Crypt, or afterwards at one of the local law courts – Lincolns Inn or Grays Inn.

It’s a magnificent church and a favourite of mine for wedding photography in the city of London.
