It’s been a long year with some great weddings and some amazing couples. What a way to draw things to a close for 2016 with the Essex Christmas wedding photography of Chris and Sophie.
Essex Christmas wedding photography
There is something very special about photographing a home wedding. Unlike wedding venues, it’s completely unique, personal and bespoke to the couple. Chris and Sophie married at Sophie’s family home in Woodham Walter Essex. I shoot a number of weddings at family homes each year, but this was the first where the church next door and just a walk through a garden side-gate.
I actually didn’t meet Sophie and Chris until a few days before the wedding. Although from Essex, they now live in Australia and their Christmas wedding photography was arranged by Sophie’s parents. They are a great couple. Chris, blessed with a sparking sense of humour and Sophie with a very creative vision of what she wanted for their day.
As we live in the UK, things can be a bit unpredictable with the weather, particulalry a December wedding. The light levels looked very low and their was a chance of rain later, which duly played a part after the ceremony. This is all part of a winter wedding. We had discussed a plan to photograph the group shots inside and make use of a stunning room. This is something that I do quite a lot these days. Group shots tend to get over-looked and often are just a line-up of family and guests. I get asked for these creative groups at most weddings now and they seem to go down very well!
It was a day overflowing with emotions. A stunning service in this small and intimate church, decorated beautifully in the Christmas spirit. Poignant yet humourous speeches that had me swinging for laughter to close to tears behind the camera. A high note to finish my year of Essex wedding photography on. A long and very tiring day, but really enjoyable.
Chris, Sophie, my best wishes for a long lifetime overflowing with happiness together and Happy Christmas.
